The 2008 Hummer H2 is a large sport utility vehicle packed with style, remarkable off-road capability, and a powerful V-8 engine. It accommodates five to seven passengers, and is available in standard H2, H2 Adventure and H2 Luxury trim levels.

The new H2 is powered by a larger 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that boasts 393 horsepower. The only transmission available on the H2 is the six-speed automatic with steering wheel paddles for manual shift control. Towing capacity has improved to 8,000 pounds. The H2 comfortably races from zero to 60 mph in 10 seconds. All trims have an all-wheel-drive configuration.

The four-door H2 includes a thoroughly redesigned instrument panel; new seats, including a full third-row seat for two passengers; revised door trim panels and controls; and new entertainment features. It retains its iconic bricklike design. The cabin has been upgraded with leather upholstery; better fit and finish; driver-selectable rear-differential locker; rear-seat climate controls; heated first- and second-row seats; comfortable two-passenger third-row seats; and an overhead DVD entertainment system for backseat passengers. It offers 86.6 cubic feet of cargo space. On the exterior, the H2's familiar form has been upgraded with larger grille slot openings and silver-painted lower bumpers.

For the first time, the H2 has stability control with roll mitigation technology and brake assist for the anti-lock disc brakes. The OnStar emergency communications system is enhanced by optional turn-by-turn navigation. Rollover-sensing head curtain air bags for all three rows, anti-skid system and front-row safety belt pretensioners are standard.
